I graduated from the University of Hamburg in 2023 with a degree in Art History and am currently pursuing my doctoral dissertation titled «Schwarze Menschen im Kalten Krieg: Selbst- und Fremddarstellungen in der Kunst der UdSSR und USA, 1946–1992«. My research interests focus on:
- Eastern European and Russian Art
- Transnational Art History
- Postcolonial and Decolonial Perspectives in Art
- Artists after the Gulag
- Theories of Representation in the Soviet Context
- (Anti-)War Monuments and Memorials to Deserters
As an artist, I trained at the Stroganov University of Design and Applied Arts in Moscow and the School of Engaged Art in St. Petersburg. I was a member of the collective Krasnaya Shpana and collaborated on the project «To Whom Does the Avant-Garde Belong? Malevich Project» at Kampnagel in Hamburg. Together with the artist Evgenia Loginova we created the performances «Semiotics of the Other» and «Obedient bodies«. In 2011, I participated in the exhibition «Contra Mater«, part of the 4th Moscow Biennale.
